I tried something new today. I caught Mama King in the pasture, put a halter on and snap-on reins. Then I got on her bareback and asked her to ride out in the pasture. I didn't know if she would go bareback since she didn't go very well with a saddle when I first got her. Well, after a little hesitation, she went right out in pasture, down the trail on a loose rein. She was a good little riding mare. I guess she just hasn't been ridden in a long time and that was why she didn't go well the first time I tried to ride her. What a pleasant surprise.
