November 11
Today Chris and I visited the two vendor's buildings and watched several riding events. The Transportation building had tack vendors, jewelry, equine health products, a horse trailer company and many AQHA's sponsor booths. Ford was there with an F-350 chassis and V-10 engine on it. It looked so big. We visited Sergeant's and got several tack items there. We visited Professional's choice, a horse book/video booth, several tack booths, a home decor type booth, some of the equine health products booths, and of course we had to look at the horse trailers. I found some horse candy treats to bring home to the kids. We found lunge whips in bright colors like orange and lime green. There were many things in lime green at the different booths. We looked at the Weatherbeeta blanket booth. I just recently purchased an Orican blanket for Roman for the winter, but I wanted to see what was new at the booth. I love Roman's blanket, however, it is a discontinued style. One of the new blankets was made in a real nice plaid fabric. AQHA had a booth set up here, too, where you could take care of business, get forms, programs and a current journal.
The other building with vendor booths had lots of equine farm products like stalls, fencing and trailers, and it had lots of clothes for show and everyday, home decor like furniture, holiday decorations and such. We loved looking at all the trailer samples from the various manufactures. I found two trailer companies where I particularly liked their trailers. I saw a new type of pipe fence by preifert. Chris ate lunch in this building, too. He gobbled done the food from the Oklahoma food service that was there.
The horse events we watched were Jr. Cutting, HUS, Sr. Hunter Hack. Mason (who will be riding Paula's horse on Thursday) rode Downtownedetailbrown in Sr. Hunter Hack and made it to the finals on Nov. 18. Chris had never watched cutting before. The cattle weren't very active, so he didn't get to see the horses really work. I was disappointed in that. They switched cattle, but we didn't get to see if they were any better or not.
There was a really good cookie booth set up in the main entrance of the coliseum. Chris and I each got a big cookie-yum! KC Montgomery photography and a video company were also set up there. NRHA, NCHA, and NSBA were all set up in the same area at the coliseum, too.
The Jr. Hunter Hack didn't have a preliminary round so we didn't get to see it. After the last class of the night, Sr. Hunter Hack, we went back to our hotel for a good nights sleep. It's back home for us tomorrow. |
